Baco-Liner first

Baco-Liner Liverpool

The first Baco-Liner vessel ever to call at the Port of Liverpool opens its bows to allow barges loaded with cocoa from West Africa to be towed out into Seaforth Dock.

In a unique operation, six of the barges carrying 3,000 tonnes of the commodity, were discharged from within the hull of th mother ship while containers were being lifted from the deck by gantry crane.
Baco-Liner 3 was one of several of the specialist ships to call at Liverpool with the cargo during Ghana's cocoa season. The barges were towed by Carmet tugs to the West Alexandra Docjk berth of Fastbulk for discharge before returning to Seaforth Dock to load with south-bound general cargo.
Baco-Liner operates a regular fortnightly service from Ghana and Nigeria to the UK, carrying both the 25 metre long barges and containers. Agents in the UK are CN Shipping of Ilford, Essex.
